The "premium and affordable audio technology" brand Edifier has augmented its line of speakers with a new unit of the bookshelf (or, alternatively, PC-flanking) form-factor. Despite its name, each S1000W is rated for up to 120 watts (W) of audio power through its front-facing bass and tweeter units.

The latter are titanium domes rated for "a smoother response rate with stunning dispersion and all-round superior sensitivity than regular plastic tweeters". Accordingly, it is rated for a 45-40,000Hz frequency response, a noise level of 25dB(A) at the most and an input sensitivity of 500±50mV, even over its Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

The S1000W Bookshelf Speaker is rated to support apps and services such as Apple AirPlay 2, TIDAL Connect and Amazon Alexa - although the latter has to be accessed via a third-party app, as Edifier does not intend for it to be a smart speaker and, thus, appeal to those who value privacy over voice-assisted convenience.

The OEM asserts that the S1000W has landed with "superb value for money" for its specs, although that might be up to the individual consumer at a starting price of US$449.99.
