I'm a flight attendant and I swear by a £13 item when I go on long trips | The Irish Sun

A FLIGHT attendant has revealed the £13 item that they never leave behind, especially when flying on long-distance journeys.

Cabin crew members were asked about the important items they can't travel without on social media platform Reddit and one item in particular stood out.

One of the flight attendants said they would never set foot on a plane without their Bluetooth headphone jack transmitter, which allows them to use their headphones on the in-flight entertainment system.

They wrote: "I just started carrying a Bluetooth headphone jack transmitter.

"I can use my Bluetooth headphones on any in-flight entertainment with it, which I love."

Most planes don't have Bluetooth connectivity for the onboard screens, meaning passengers without wired headphones can end up having to pay extra, or missing out on the entertainment entirely.

However, a Bluetooth transmitter solves that problem, by plugging into the headphone jack and connecting to any bluetooth headphones.

This also allows passengers to enjoy the entertainment system more than they might with the plane's headphones, with some bluetooth headphones offering noise cancelling and crisper audio quality.

The transmitters can be bought for less than £13 on Amazon, with the Isobel receiver among the most popular.

The adaptor boasts 10 hours of battery life when in use, but can take only takes one hour to fully charge.

It also works as a receiver to allow non-Bluetooth devices to stream audio from phones or other Bluetooth devices.

Out of more than 1,800 reviews on Amazon, the Isobel transmitter has an overall rating of 3.9/5, with 72 per cent of reviewers rating it either four or five stars.

One user said: "Nifty compact and practical device. Well packaged and presented, also setup is a breeze and connects seamlessly."

Another wrote: "I’ve found this product very useful since my laptop doesn’t have Bluetooth, by using this I can easily connect wireless earphones.

"It’s very easy to use and pairs quickly, I’ve used it on both the transmitter and receiver settings which are easy to switch between."

A third added: "This is one of the best audio transmitters I have found.

"I liked it so much, I purchased another one as a spare."

This £17 Bluetooth item will help you get to sleep on planes and in your hotel room.

Travellers have also praised this "must-have" £12.99 item.
