A homeless Sedalia man was charged with multiple felonies in Pettis County on Wednesday, October 5.
According to a probable cause statement, Sedalia Police responded to 530 East 4th Street to a report of an alleged assault.
A victim relayed to the officer that Cal Childers had come over to her residence and confronted her about a Bluetooth speaker. The confrontation led to a verbal argument and Childers allegedly struck the woman in the face with a drill, Childers dog then allegedly bit her in the abdomen.
Sedalia Police made contact with Childers and he stated that he had not hit the woman and that she had fallen on the floor, which is when the dog bit her.
Officers placed Childers in handcuffs. Childers, while handcuffed began trying to pull away and tried to kick the officer and yelled obscenities. Childers was advised that he was going to be placed in a WRAP restraint system if he did not calm down. Childers attempted to head-butt the officer at which time he placed in the WRAP system.
Childers was charged with felonies for assault, armed criminal action and resisting arrest.
An arraignment was held on Thursday, October 6. Bond was set at $75,000 cash or surety.
A hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 25 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
