With the spooky season and Halloween approaching fast, there is no better time to take a look at the creepiest yet most endearing Pokemon. Pokemon has always been keen on some creepy lore, especially with some of the Pokedex entries.

These Pokemon, however, are less pure terror and more creepy yet cute. These are the Pokemon to take on a night of trick-or-treating. While these Pokemon might not perform great competitively, they would make for the best Halloween companion without a doubt.

This Pokemon from ancient Hisui would likely have no idea what Halloween is. Which is unfortunate, as it would be the perfect companion for trick-or-treating. First of all, it already looks badass and kind of otherworldly, fitting snugly into a creepy look. However, its ability is the kicker here.

The ability Illusion allows Zoroark to change form into other Pokemon, which would be perfect for scaring people as it transforms into its true, scary look from an unassuming disguise. Regular Zoroark would of course work too, but the Hisuian form feels like a better fit, partly due to its Ghost typing.

Speaking of changing forms, we have the mascot itself! Pikachu may not be the first Pokemon you think of when considering trick-or-treating; however, the cosplay Pikachu variant is the perfect companion for it. It has five different costumes that allow it to change type and appearance.

The forms are of a Rock Star, Belle, Pop Star, Professor and a Wrestler. These costumes all feel like they could carry Halloween by themselves, but luckily Pikachu can change costumes too, so you're not stuck with one. Besides being a literal cosplay Pokemon, Pikachu is sure to increase your candy income thanks to its iconic cuteness.

Chandelure does not feel like a great Pokemon to hang out with on Halloween at first glance. After all, it's just a lamp, isn't it? However, when you look into some Pokedex entries and lore about it, it feels way scarier than a boring old lamp. It has a really creepy look to begin with, making it easy to imagine scaring people away if that's the vibe you're going for.

In addition to that, Chandelure is a Ghost-type that burns actual souls to fuel its fire. While that may feel a little too hardcore, it does fit the overall feel of Halloween. Luckily, if you want a more friendly looking companion while trick-or-treating, the pre-evolution Litwick would also work perfectly.

Speaking of actually scary and dangerous, Dusclops is another great entry on this list. It's Pokedex entries speak of its hollow body, which houses the spirits of those that try to peak under the bandages. That's scary without a doubt. However, unless people are dismissive of its personal space, Dusclops is just a spooky boy with a derpy look.

It's not as scary looking as some other Pokemon, not as threatening as its evolved form, and has an almost ugly but cute sort of charm to it. Be careful with your candy though, as it's said to devour anything near it, potentially clearing out your bag while you're not looking.

Espurr is a Psychic type with very little affiliation with the more generically scary types of Ghost and Dark. However, Espurr nails the uneasy look. Its Pokedex entries speak of uncontrollable psychic power that it tries to control and block with its ears. It's no surprise that it looks on edge all the time.

Espurr would easily creep people out just by staring at them with a blank expression. Still, at the end of the day. it's a small cat Pokemon, undoubtedly scoring some candy payouts for you from people who'll think it's more cute than creepy.

There are tons of videos and photos of people incorporating their pets into their cosplays and Halloween getup. Houndoom, luckily, does that by default. It already feels like a Rottweiler that was dressed up for Halloween, even more so in its Mega Form.

It's not a ghost or spirit you have to watch out for in case it starts to consume innocent spirits — it's just an awesome-looking dog. It learns some cool Fire moves too, such as Will-o-Wisp and Ember. These moves could easily be repurposed for a small light show to set the mood if you want.

Both regular and Mega Banette feel like they were designed with Halloween in mind. Banette is a creepy doll that came to life, and that's enough justification for why it's the perfect trick-or-treat partner.

It is classified as the Marionette Pokemon and is said to be an old doll that became a Pokemon through its grudge of being abandoned. This is such a classic horror trope that it wouldn't be fair to leave Banette out of this list. Its Mega Form is just as creepy, with zippers opening up around its body to reveal the spirit living inside, still smiling mischievously.

Gengar is the original prankster of the Pokemon franchise. Even in the anime, Ash used the pre-evolution Haunter as a way to trick Erika into laughing. Just the look of this Pokemon makes you think there is something mischievous going on that it's part of.

Gengar is not evil in comparison to some other Ghost types either, not interested in soul-sucking, spirit-stealing or anything of the sort. It's more interested in scaring people and laughing at them, tricking them with shadow games and having the best time possible. Gengar is the perfect partner for those looking to make some viral videos on Halloween, scaring people.

Gourgeist is quite likely the best Pokemon to have with you on Halloween. To begin with, it's the pumpkin Pokemon and has a Jack-o'-lantern carved onto it. Already, it saves you so much time you'd spend carving pumpkins otherwise.

Gourgeist and its pre-evolution Pumpkaboo are the only Pokemon to learn the move Trick-or-Treat too. Add the creepy yet adorable look, and you've got the perfect trick-or-treat partner in Gourgeist. It does tend to curse and drag people into the afterlife though, so be aware.

Mimikyu was introduced in Generation Seven, and this Pikachu clone captured the hearts of many. Its design is original to begin with, wearing a rag that was made to look like a Pikachu. Mimikyu never reveals its true form, making it even more creepy.

To give credit to Mimikyu, that's for a good reason, as those who see the true form have died due to shock, according to the Pokedex. Mimikyu is not evil though: it just wants to be accepted and loved, which is why it hides under a costume. All that makes Mimikyu a perfect trick-or-treater. It's friendly and cute but still spooky, and comes with a costume by default.
