Professional Tool Reviews for Pros
Every woodworker has their tried and true ways to join wood. If you’re a fan of biscuit joiners, you know that they can make the process easier and provide a stronger hold than a standard glue-up. DeWalt’s XR line of tools is growing with the addition of the DCW682 20V biscuit joiner.
Without the inconvenience of a cord getting in your way, working with the DeWalt biscuit joiner should be a breeze. This 20V tool boasts the ability to deliver up to 300 joints, or 600 cuts, per charge. Like most biscuit joiners, you can cut for #0, #10, and #20-sized biscuits.
Adjusting the height, depth, and bevel isn’t a problem either, since the DeWalt biscuit joiner features tool-free calibration. It also includes a depth selection knob for adjusting between biscuit sizes.
This tool also utilizes a brushless motor and uses a dual rack and pinion fence design to give you smooth cuts. You can adjust the bevel capacity from 0 degrees to 90 degrees, and it has a paddle-switch design that you can adjust to your dominant or preferred hand.
The tool industry doesn’t currently have a lot of cordless biscuit joiners on the market. Even the Festool Domino remains a $1000+ corded tool. The Makita XJP03 plate joiner runs on the company’s LXT 18V battery platform and runs about $275 for the bare tool. With that said, DeWalt has a corded DW682K plate/biscuit joiner that retails for $200. With a cordless model, they have an opportunity to provide a cordless solution at a great value price.
The DeWalt 20V biscuit joiner will be available starting at the end of June 2022. Pricing should be around $289 for the bare tool (DCW682B) and it includes a 3-year warranty.
